Mara Sherman
Mara Sherman is an Assistant Professor at Oregon Health & Science University in the Department of Cell, Developmental & Cancer Biology, and a member of the Knight Cancer Institute. Her lab studies the pancreatic tumor microenvironment, with a particular interest in the cancer-associated fibroblasts that give this tumor type its characteristic, desmoplastic stromal reaction. The Sherman lab is building new models to investigate how the chemoresistant and immune-suppressive pancreatic tumor microenvironment gets established, is hopes of identifying mechanisms to be targeted for therapeutic benefit.
