Alexis Minchaca
Dr Alexis Minchaca Acosta is a postdoctoral researcher at Children's Cancer Institute and a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She completed her PhD at UNSW in 2024, where her research focused on identifying novel therapeutic targets for adult and paediatric brain cancers using cell surface proteomics.
Her current research focuses on developing advanced three-dimensional (3D) human models of the blood–brain barrier to investigate drug delivery to the brain and evaluate nanoparticle-based therapeutic strategies. Her work integrates cancer biology, nanomedicine and advanced imaging techniques to improve preclinical models and support the development of more effective treatments for brain cancers.
Beyond her research, she is actively involved in supporting early-career researchers, scientific collaboration and research community initiatives.
